Our history
|
How it all beganThe Jewellery Valuers Society was incorporated in 1995. At that time most jewellery valuations were done by retail jewellers. The society was established to bring a more professional standard in jewellery valuing, to generally phase out the old system of valuing and bring in a dedicated professional system, involving scientific testing and a pragmatic approach to values, ie not used as a selling tool to make your purchases appear great value.
Our missionToday, with the advent of man-made diamonds, synthetic gems, sophisticated gem treatments, it ever more important that valuers are educated, kept up to date and have the necessary tools and equipment to identify correctly and apply appropriate values.
All our members agree to adhere to a strict code of practice and are qualified to assess and value jewellery, so you can trust in us with your precious pieces. Not only that, we can guarantee that all valuation work undertaken by any JVS member will be recognised by all insurance companies under the Insurance Council. |
